Qualifications: Drivers must be at least 18 years old to drive in-state, 21 years or older for interstate driving. Familiarity with rules and regulations of commercial driving, an excellent driving record, and a strong adherence to safety procedures is required. Drivers should be in good physical stamina and have excellent vision.
Education: On-the-job training required. Drivers must obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) from their home state, pass the hazardous materials endorsement exam administered by the TSA, and fulfill any other company safety requirements. Training programs are available to learn commercial driving techniques and prepare for CDL test.
