American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) is looking for an experienced, organized and detail-oriented Specialist, Regional Network Programs – Occupational Safety. AFPM is a dynamic trade association representing high-tech American manufacturers of virtually the entire U.S. supply of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, other fuels, and home heating oil, as well as the petrochemicals used as building blocks for thousands of vital products in daily life, from paints to plastics, space suits to solar panels, and medicines to mobile phones.

The Specialist, Regional Network Programs – Occupational Safety coordinates and facilitates regional safety meetings across the United States focused on our Occupational Safety regional networks. This is a full-time exempt position and reports to AFPM’s Senior Manager, Regional Network Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing, coordinating, and facilitating occupational safety regional network meetings
  • Builds strong relationships with AFPM member company representatives and meeting attendees.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining network communications, network materials, and member-focused databases.
  • Disseminates important information within and across regions, and with other relevant AFPM committees.
  • Communicates and collaborates with AFPM staff managing other regional network programs, to ensure program standards and cohesiveness are maintained.
  • Provides input and recommendations on how to build, improve, and streamline the programs in the AFPM Safety department.
  • Represents AFPM at industry- and safety-related conferences and trade shows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or three to five years of equivalent knowledge and experience. Trade association experience a plus.
  • Process or occupational safety, safety programs, and/or program and meeting coordination experience strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat required, and proficiency in association management software and applications preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, teamwork skills and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to travel as needed to regional and other assigned meetings.
