What is Walk the Line?

AFPM's Walk the Line (WTL) is an operational excellence program for industry by industry. This focused practice sharing program is based on API RP 754 Tier 1 & 2 data and works to reduce process safety events related to the WTL causes of:

• Operational readiness
• Open ended lines / valve left open
• Line-up

Specifically, it focuses on three fundamentals: changing the culture by setting the expectation for energy control, operational continuity with the use of operational discipline tools, and operational readiness.

Walk the Line Toolbox

The Walk the Line Toolbox is a compilation of industry good practices to assist a site in preventing future Walk the Line incidents.

WTL 101 Videos

This 9-chapter series of animated videos is a culmination of the entire Walk the Line toolbox organized by the three pillars: Operating Culture, Operational Continuity, and Operational Readiness. It summarizes what Walk the Line is, how to get started, and the available resources.

Walk the Line Self-Evaluation Tool

Walk the Line has developed a site self-evaluation tool that outlines the available good practices categorized by:

• Operational continuity
• Open bleeders
• Line-up
• Operational readiness
• Conduct of operations

How to Use
