WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) promoted Geoff Moody to vice president, government relations. Moody has been with the organization since 2012, when he joined the organization as director, government relations.

In his role as vice president, government relations, he leads AFPM’s legislative and policy development, and coalition activities relating to fuels, environmental regulation, chemicals management, transportation, and taxes.

“Geoff is a tremendous asset to our organization. Members, staff, and I look to him for his keen insights and strategic thinking,” said AFPM President and CEO Chet Thompson.

Geoff started his career as a member of Congressman Gary Miller’s legislative staff, and previously worked for the Grocery Manufacturers Association. He holds a Juris Doctor Degree from George Mason University School of Law.

AFPM has also hired Robert Benedict as director, transportation and infrastructure. In this role, he will lead the newly-created Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the Rail Policy Working Group.

Benedict comes to AFPM from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), where he was a branch chief and senior regulations officer in the areas of regulatory risk and economic analysis. He also worked for Booz Allen Hamilton as a hazardous materials expert.

“We are excited to bring in Robert to lead our Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and to liaise with government officials on transportation issues. With over a decade of planning, development, and execution of policy and business functions, as well as his knowledge of transportation policy, I am confident in his ability to successfully lead this new group,” Thompson noted.
