WASHINGTON, D.C. - American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) President and CEO Chet Thompson is pleased to announce the promotion of Geoff Moody to Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Policy and Fernando “Nando” Gomez to the position of Senior Director of Government Relations.
“Geoff has been with AFPM for more than 10 years and has proven to be a tremendous asset not only to AFPM members but also to the United States refining, midstream and petrochemical industries as a whole. He has one of the sharpest fuel policy and regulatory minds you can find,” said AFPM President and CEO Chet Thompson. “With a number of key policy challenges ahead of us that matter greatly to the women and men of our industries, Geoff is the right person to be leading our government relations and policy team.
“Nando has strengthened our federal government relations operation since the day he joined us three years ago,” Thompson added. “His industry experience, political sense and roots in Texas Districts that are home to key refining and petrochemical hubs bring so much value to the table for AFPM members as we work to advance their policy priorities.”
In his elevated position, Geoff Moody will lead AFPM’s federal, state and local legislative and policy efforts, regulatory engagement, and industry analysis functions relating to AFPM priority issues.
Moody joined AFPM’s government relations team in 2012. Before that, he worked for the Grocery Manufacturers Association and on Capitol Hill. He holds a Juris Doctor Degree from George Mason University School of Law.
Nando Gomez will take over day-to-day and strategic operation of AFPM’s federal government relations team. His portfolio includes management of AFPM’s Government Relations Committee and the continual strengthening and advancement of AFPM political programs and policymaker engagement.
Gomez joined AFPM in 2019. He was previously principal and founder of the Julic Group and Vice President of Government Relations for Honeywell. On Capitol Hill, Gomez was Chief of Staff for Congressman Solomon Ortiz (D-TX) and Legislative Director for Congressman Martin Frost (D-TX). He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.
