WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5729, the Transportation Worker Identification Credential Accountability Act of 2018:
“AFPM would like to thank Representative John Katko (R-NY) and Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) for their leadership and efforts to ensure bipartisan support and passage of H.R. 5729, the Transportation Worker Identification Credential Accountability (TWIC) Act of 2018. Delaying the implementation of the TWIC reader rule until completion of a Congressionally required assessment of the program will provide the much-needed certainty to AFPM member facilities working to comply with the rule and ensure these sites are as secure as possible.
“We urge the Senate to follow Representatives Katko and McCaul’s lead and act swiftly to pass this important, bipartisan legislation.”
