Overview

Phillips 66's Bayway Refinery will present their recent experience with a control room modernization project. The project involved deliberate steps to standardize design and enhance operator performance. Key components of this initiative included alarm rationalization and the development of HMI graphics based on human-centered design principles. The control modernization project’s objective was to improve abnormal situation management and align with recommended industry practices.  With the ever-present goal of safe reliable operation of the facility, Phillips 66 will describe their multi-faceted approach to not only improve alarming and HMI graphics but develop sustainable work processes to support the life cycle of both critical aspects to control system operation. Key decisions were informed by industry standards, Phillips 66 good practices, and valuable input from key stakeholders across departments.
