Question 65: Please comment on which FCC feed types you are currently processing and what chemicals you are using for gas plant corrosion prevention. Is waterwashing sufficient to sustain adequate unit reliability?

ZACH BEZON [United Refining Company (URC)]

Our refinery typically runs Western Canadian Crudes, SYN, and some conventional heavy crudes. The FCC is fed with gas oil cuts from the crude and vacuum towers with a typical API of 21-22.

In addition to a constant waterwash on the main fractionator overheads, we use a GE corrosion inhibitor (pHilmPLUS 5067) in our main fractionator overheads, gas plant sponge oil absorber.
