As we continue to grow and expand our reach, we are excited to announce an opening for a Manager, Programs & Committees – Occupational Safety. The Manager leads AFPM’s suite of Occupational Safety Programs, including the six Occupational Safety Regional Networks, Industrial Hygiene Subcommittee, and the Incident Classification Matrix (Severe Injury and Fatality), and supports the activities of the Safety & Health Committee. The primary objectives of the Programs are to foster relationships with members, develop strategies and action plans for each program, and serve as a conduit between assigned network members and AFPM.
Responsibilities
- Oversees data collection for the AFPM Incident Classification Matrix, including managing the process, conducting data analysis, and creating the annual report.
- Manages the Industrial Hygiene Subcommittee and works to increase engagement among non-participating member companies.
- Supports the Safety & Health Committee programs with data collection, occupational safety regional networks, annual Safety Conference and safety awards program.
- Develops meeting agendas, content, meeting minutes, and other related business communications for all network and subcommittee meetings.
- Fosters positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with program groups, committee leadership, and participants through outreach and new member onboarding.
- Collaborates with AFPM colleagues, within and outside the department, to ensure quality standards are maintained, process consistency, and appropriate information is being disseminated across programs and regions.
- Demonstrates initiative in providing regular input and recommendations regarding increasing member participation and making efficiency improvements for assigned programs and processes.
- Contributes to departmental strategy, planning, and brainstorming sessions.
- Represents AFPM and enhances knowledge and connections by attending and participating in AFPM initiatives at meetings and industry-related conferences.
- Performs other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience successfully developing, facilitating, and managing committees, working groups, teams and/or professional networks.
- Demonstratable knowledge and experience in Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene topics in a manufacturing setting, such as OSHA regulations, occupational safety hazards, recordkeeping, etc.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-building skills, including effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism, emotional intelligence, and reliability throughout all activities, conversations, and interactions.
- Exceptional customer/client/member services skills to ensure member expectations are met or exceeded, issues are addressed promptly, and communication is frequent and responsive.
- Ability to work in collaborative team environment defined by a culture of excellence, mutual support, open and honest feedback, and goal achievement.
- Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time to attend regional meetings and assigned conferences and events.
- High level proficiency in Microsoft Office programs specifically Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Relevant college degree or certifications helpful.
